At the pre-event of WHINN 2019, you have the opportunity to learn how the latest technological advancements in personal care will support the growing segment of elderly people in staying healthy and independent longer.

Tuesday, November 19 is going to be a special day for anyone interested in their personal wellbeing. The first day of WHINN - “Week of Health and Innovation 2019” comes with the opportunity to meet renown experts in the field of personal healthcare, coaching and technology innovation.

The pre-event of WHINN is called “International Conference on Personalised Coaching and Intelligent ICT Environments for Wellbeing and Care”. It will be all day long and includes three  keynote speakers, followed by multiple expert talks and showcases, as well as a panel discussion.

Some of the topics that are going to be covered are:

  • Living labs in digital healthcare
  • Feature construction and modelling of decision support systems
  • The role of the social circles in care and wellbeing
  • Persuasion and coaching strategies for behavioural change
  • Privacy preserving technologies for detecting changes in cognition and emotion

The conference is supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. It is organized as part of the project  SAAM (Supporting Active Aging through Multimodal coaching), which brings together 10 partners from 5 European countries with the goal of supporting the continent’s growing segment of the aging population.

The result of their work is a multimodal system designed to understand elderly people’s needs and preferences and coach them in improving their mobility, general activity, and social interaction with the support of their social networks.

During the WHINN week visitors will have also the chance to see a staged demonstration of the developed by SAAM’s team multimodal system for active aging at the expo section. The demonstration will show attendants how SAAM components fit together and how is expected improvement of elderly people’s quality of life.

The “International Conference on Personalised Coaching and Intelligent ICT Environments for Wellbeing and Care” is going to be held at Forskerparken 10, located in Campus Odense. It will start at 10:00 o’clock with a welcome and address from Maria Gabriel, European commissioner for digital economy and society.
